Empowering Students through Experiential Learning

At H.B. Fuller, we know that our business is best positioned to succeed when our communities are thriving. That’s one of the reasons we build strong relationships with local nonprofits working to improve the lives of our neighbors around the world.

We have had a long-term partnership with Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest. This month, we were proud to celebrate the grand opening our the H.B. Fuller Innovation Center in JA BizTown, a state-of-the-art experiential learning lab in JA’s new facility, the Junior Achievement James R. and Patricia Hemak Experiential Learning Center.

JA BizTown is a fully interactive free-market lab where students in grades 4-6 learn what it means to be responsible business leaders, consumers, workers, and citizens by participating in a simulated economy. Students perform specific jobs within 18 different shops, including the H.B. Fuller Innovation Center, each of which offers a consumer product or service.

JA VolunteersTo officially open the H.B. Fuller Innovation Center, employees spent the day volunteering in JA BizTown, helping students from a Minneapolis elementary school keep the JA BizTown economy running. H.B. Fuller employees, including our CEO, Jim Owens, had the opportunity to meet the students who ran the H.B. Fuller Innovation Center for the day, and answer questions about what working at the real H.B. Fuller is like. Our employees enjoyed the chance to come together and help one of our nonprofit partners in their mission of empowering students.
